Matrix 4 announced; Keanu Reeves returns as Neo

It is official! Keanu Reeves is all set to return as Neo for the fourth-instalment in The Matrix franchise. Titled Matrix 4, the sci-fi film, will be directed by Lana Wachowski, one half of the Wachowskis who directed all the three previous films.

"Many of the ideas Lilly and I explored 20 years ago about our reality are even more relevant now. I'm very happy to have these characters back in my life and grateful for another chance to work with my brilliant friends," said Lana Wachowski.

Matrix 4 will also see the return of Carrie-Anne Moss as Trinity. While we do not yet know the details of the plot, we do know that it is written by Aleksandar Hemon, David Mitchell and Lana Wachowski, who is also producing the film with Grant Hill.

Matrix 4 will be presented by Warner Bros Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures and the production will begin early next year.
