Producer Manish Mundra to make directorial debut with social drama

Bollywood producer Manish Mundra, known for critically-acclaimed films like Masaan, Newton, and Kadvi Kawa, is making his directorial debut. The Drishyam Films owner will co-direct an upcoming film with Supreet K Singh. The untitled project is a social drama,  and according to a source in the know, the story is inspired by the Unnao rape case in Uttar Pradesh.

Manish is planning to commence shooting in January, in Delhi and UP. The screenplay will be written by Darab Farooqui (Notebook, Dedh Ishqiya). Cinematographer Avinash Arun, who collaborated with Manish on Masaan, will shoot the film.

Drishyam Films’ upcoming release is Kamyaab, starring Sanjay Mishra. They have also produced Suman Ghosh’s Aadhar, Seema Pahwa’s directorial debut Ram Prasad Ki Tehrvi, and Prashant Nair’s Tryst With Destiny. The production house is set to venture into Marathi cinema with Ghaath, directed by Chhatrapal Ninawe and featuring Sacred Games-fame Jitendra Joshi.
