Atharva's 100 postponed to May 9

Atharvaa's first outing as a cop, 100, was supposed to be released this Friday, but the film has now been postponed to May 9. At a press meet yesterday, producer Mahesh of Auraa Cinemas said the reason for the change was the strong run of Avengers: Endgame and Kanchana 3. "We were not able to get enough screens. We've made this film on quite a big budget and believe this will be a breakout role for Atharvaa. Owing to all these reasons, we took this decision on Tuesday." Mahesh also believes that Thursday has historically been lucky for him. "I've been a distributor for 30+ films, and Irumugan, Saithan, Devi, were all released on Thursday and made money. This is my debut production venture and I hope the luck continues." Interestingly, the producer, an ardent devotee of Sai Baba, revealed that he has asked the film's designers to retrofit references to the godman in the film during post-production.

Directed by Sam Anton, the film has music by Sam CS, who mentioned that this is his fourth cop film, following Vikram Vedha, Adangamaru, and Ayogya. "The content of the latter two films and 100 might be similar in nature, but the screenplay of each is totally different. This film moves at a frenetic pace, especially in the second half." Sam added that when his namesake visited him, he expected the director to narrate a comedy script in line with his previous films -- Darling and Enakku Innoru Peru Irukku."I was pleasantly surprised when he narrated an edge-of-the-seat thriller."

Sam Anton, for his part, confessed that he was quite nervous about narrating such a script to both the music director and Atharvaa. "I had approached the actor about four years ago, and I didn't expect him to trust me so implicitly with a new genre. I am thankful to him." Atharvaa added that he really liked the earnestness of Anton's narration. "Unlike a regular cop film, a large portion of this happens inside the control room. For the people who call 100, the voice answering at the other end is equivalent to the voice of god. I am so proud to have been associated with this very important film."
