Election commission seeks report on Sivakarthikeyan casting his vote despite not being listed on electoral roll

Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral officer, Sathyapraba Sahoo, has sought an explanation on the allegation that actor Sivakarthikeyan cast his vote in the South Chennai Lok Sabha constituency on April 18 despite his name not being listed on the electoral roll.

The actor had allegedly gone to a booth first where he was denied vote because his name was not there in the electoral list. Then, he reportedly went home, got his voter ID, visited another booth at a private school in Valasaravakkam, and cast his vote.

We have now sought a detailed report from the Chennai district election officer (DEO) as to how the official in the school allowed the actor to vote without his name being on the electoral roll,” Mr. Sathyapraba Sahoo has been quoted as saying.

Earlier, the CEO had sought a report from the Chennai DEO after an election official in a polling booth at Stella Maris College had applied the indelible ink on the right index finger of Rajinikanth instead of the left index finger.
