Suriya is a national icon, and one of the best actors in India: Guneet Monga

Soorarai Pottru, Suriya’s much-anticipated film with Sudha Kongara, bankrolled by Guneet Monga, has been making the right noise ever since its inception. Guneet, in a statement, called Suriya a national icon, and said, "We are so thrilled to start our journey in Tamil cinema with none other than Suriya. He is one of the best actors in our country."

In the statement, Guneet also expressed her elation over how 2019 is shaping up for her banner, Sikhya Entertainment, which won an Oscar for the documentary, Period: End of Sentence, and a Filmfare award for Plus Minus.

Suriya, in a statement, said, "It's a delight working on this project with director Sudha Kongara and with Guneet Monga, a talented young lady, whose work has been appreciated globally. Soorarai Pottru will bring together highly-skilled people on one platform to entertain the audiences on a different level."

Touted to be based on the life of famous entrepreneur, GR Gopinath, the founder of Air Deccan, Soorarai Pottru also stars Aparna Balamurali. The film, which has cinematography by Niketh Bommireddy of U-Turn fame and editing by Sathish Suriya, will mark the first collaboration between music director GV Prakash Kumar and Suriya.
