With the official motion poster of Rajinikanth’s Petta crossing 3.5 million views, there’s more news on the Karthik Subbaraj-directorial. It’s now speculated that the film will hit the screens for Pongal 2019. With the shooting currently underway in Lucknow, photos from the sets show that Rajini is sporting a young look for this schedule.

While it was earlier rumoured that the actor will be playing a college professor, a recent photo shows him with a tattoo that reads MISA 109, leading to speculation that Rajini might be playing a prisoner of the MISA act that was imposed by Indira Gandhi during the emergency period.

The film, produced by Sun Pictures, has an ensemble cast that includes Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Trisha, Simran, Vijay Sethupathi and Bobby Simha. Anirudh will be composing music for Petta thereby marking his first collaboration with both Karthik and Rajini.
