Anant Nag has yet again taken on an interesting character and this time, it’s that of a gemologist for Nagathihalli Chandrashekar’s yet-to-be-titled project.

The film started rolling on August 4, and the team has completed the London schedule with lead actors Vasishta Simha and Manvitha Harish. Anant joined in for the second schedule that resumed in Bengaluru a couple of days ago.

The details of Anant’s role are being kept under wrap as the director doesn’t want to reveal much until the run-up to the film’s release. “All I can say right now is that Anant sir plays a gemologist, who uses the earth-science method. He is not a gemologist who recommends and sells stones to people. In fact, Anant sir was thrilled when he read the script and his character,” says Nagathihalli.

For this particular character, an American-certified gemologist, Dr Manjunatha, gave a few tips and trained Anant on the use of gems.”I wanted to bring in authenticity to the character,” the director says.

The story of Nagathihalli’s film, produced by YN Shankare Gowda, has been written by his daughter Kanasu. And the director is trying to work out the film on the lines of his 90s superhit, America America. The subject, speculated to be a romance and crime drama, will bring in the cultural and ideological differences between the two countries. The director also has British cameraman Will Price on board.
