Mohanlal confirms resignation of Dileep from AMMA

In a new press conference, actor Mohanlal has confirmed that the Association of Malayalam Movie Actors (A.M.M.A) has accepted Dileep's resignation. Dileep, who was suspended from A.M.M.A after he was named as an accused in the sexual assault case of an actress, was reinstated on June 25, 2018.

"Dileep has submitted his resignation after we asked him to," said Mohanlal. Recently, the Women in Cinema Collective (WCC) slammed the leading members of A.M.M.A — the Executive Committee — for reinstating Dileep and not standing by the survivor.

Mohanlal told the media on Friday that he was hurt by the manner in which everyone has acted against him. "I'm not happy as the President of A.M.M.A. Why are all the criticisms being thrown at this person called 'Mohanlal'?" asked the actor. He also added that three 'actresses', who are part of A.M.M.A, are acting against the organisation. In the earlier press meet held by WCC, actor Revathy had criticised Mohanlal for referring to them as 'actresses'.

A few days after the WCC press meet, actor Siddique had organised an independent press meet on the set of a Dileep film, which drew criticism from several corners, especially actor Jagadeesh, who told the media that it is he who is the spokesperson of A.M.M.A and not Siddique. This led many to speculate that there is tension within the organisation. However, Mohanlal clarified today that there are no issues between Siddique and Jagadeesh.
