Yashas set for an image makeover with Ramadhanya

Actor Yashas is trying to change the lover boy image that he’s often associated with. And Ramadhanya, he hopes will help with that. The film, directed by Nagesh PN, chronicles history and requires Yashas to portray different shades.

“It is based on philosopher Kanaka Dasa. The film is relevant even to today’s generation. It also explores why Thimmappa Nayaka, a warrior, turned into the saint Kanaka Dasa, and got close to Krishna. In some ways, the film also connects with Rama,” says Yashas, who is looking forward to the release of the film this week.

The roles required much preparation, and the actor signed up for it after much thought. “Even though the film has shades of history, it is still an entertainer, and not art film,” he says.

For Yashas, Ramadhanya is special, particularly because the film features him in three shades, which was a challenge for him. “I took time and watched Rajkumar’s historical films, especially the film in which he played the role of  Kanaka Dasa, before deciding to do this film. A lot of homework was required to get into the role,” he adds.

The actor feels that the plus point of the film is Darshan’s voice. “He is a good friend of mine, and I requested him to be part of my project. He watched the teaser and trailer, before agreeing to lend his voice,” says the actor.

The film has music by Desi Mohan and cinematography by Danakaraju.
