Ajith's Pink remake with director Vinoth launched; scheduled for May 1, 2019.

It is official. Ajith Kumar's next - the actor's 59th film, popularly referred to as Thala 59 or AK 59 - will indeed be directed by director H Vinoth, and produced by Boney Kapoor, husband of the late actor, Sridevi.

The film, which is the official remake of the Bollywood film, Pink, was launched in Chennai with a simple puja function, following which a few photos of the muhurat started doing the rounds on various social media platforms. The makers, who paid tribute to the late actor, Sridevi, in the function, went on to confirm that they have initiated the shooting process yesterday and are determined to get the film released on the 1st of May 2019, coinciding with Ajith's birthday. Music director Yuvan Shankar Raja also took to Twitter to confirm that he will be composing for the prestigious project.

As per Boney Kapoor's statement, it was Sridevi's long-time wish to produce a film in Tamil with Ajith Kumar in the lead. Apparently, Ajith has promised to do the film, even while shooting for the cameo role in English Vinglish. Keeping up his word, the actor seems to have given the go-ahead to the project, which now marks the maiden venture of Boney's production company Bayview Projects LLP in Tamil.

Ajith, who is reportedly reprising the role of Amithab Bachchan in Thala 59, will next be seen in director Siva's Viswasam, which is set to hit the screens this Pongal and will clash with Rajinikanth-Karthik Subbaraj's Petta at the box office
