After a long wait, Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru director Karthick Naren's second film, Naragasooran, will get a release on August 31. The filmmaker broke the news during the trailer launch of the film today. Naragasooran, with a run time of 110 minutes, was censored U/A a few weeks back.

Speaking at the event, Karthick Naren said,"I had great creative freedom while shooting Naragasooran.  Arvind Swami sir asked me not to tweak anything in the script to match his image. I was also skeptical that Sundeep anna might ask me to include duets in the film to cater to his Telugu fanbase, but he also graciously asked to stick to whatever was in the final draft of the script.  We shot for the film for forty-one days at extreme weather conditions in Ooty. Without the co-operation and trust of my cast and crew, this wouldn't have been possible."

He also went on to address the tussle between him and Gautham Menon over the release of Naragasooran. "Gautham sir is one I've always look up to as a filmmaker. He called me after Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru and said let's make a film together, and that's how Naragasooran got launched. But, as the shooting progressed, he wasn't able to keep up the promises he made and he failed to support the film financially. It really hurts when a person whom you consider as an inspiration does such things. The issue is currently being handled by the producer's council and hopefully, they'll get it sorted soon."

Indrajith Sukumaran, who is making a comeback to Tamil after 2009's Sarvam said,"Even though I was busy with Malayalam films, I was always watching out for a good script in Tamil. And finally, Naragasooran happened. It 's a performance-driven film. Karthick has given us an amazing platform to showcase our talent." Sundeep Kishan, who was last seen in Suseenthiran's Nenjil Thunivirndhal said that Naragasooran is the only film he wanted to be a part of, even before listening to the script and he is confident that it'll be a film that will make him proud.

Arvind Swami, who spoke last at the event said,"I usually say that Karthick Naren is a gift to Tamil cinema. But, after Naragasooran, I would like to correct my statement by saying, he is a gift to cinema."

The film also starring Meesaya Murukku-fame Aathmika and Shriya Saran in the lead role has music by Ron Ethan Yohann and cinematography by Sujith Sarang.
