Karthik Subbaraj-Dhanush project to be a gangster film
The film, which will be set in either Europe or in the US, will commence once the director's project with Rajinikanth gets completed
Director Karthik Subbaraj, who is currently awaiting the release of his silent film, Mercury, was supposed to begin work on a film with Dhanush this month. But in a surprise move, it was later confirmed that Sun Pictures would bankroll his next starring Rajinikanth.
In a recent press interaction, the director confirmed that the two films are different and that Dhanush's film will commence once the Rajini-starrer gets completed. Karthik also said that the former will be a gangster film, which will be set in either Europe or in the US. He added that while Hollywood veterans such as Al Pacino and Robert De Niro were approached to play the foreign antagonist, this unfortunately didn't materialise. The film was initially supposed to be produced by Thenandal Productions, but it's now confirmed that Y Not Studios, which produced Vikram Vedha, will be bankrolling this untitled project.
