Mercury to release, despite Kollywood Shutdown, on April 13
The India's first silent thriller stars Prabhudheva, Sananth Reddy, Deepak Paramesh, Anish Padman, Remya Nambeesan and Indhuja
It is well known that the ongoing TFPC strike prevents the release of any new Tamil film. But Karthik Subbaraj confirmed yesterday that his silent thriller film, Mercury, will hit the screens as planned on April 13.
Prabhudheva, who plays the lead in the film, celebrated his birthday yesterday, and the director took to Twitter to wish him and reconfirm the release date of the film. He wrote, "Wish you a very happy birthday Prabhudheva sir. Thanks for starring in Mercury and giving an excellent performance. So excited to show the film to the audience from April 13th."
The makers of the film have planned to release the film across the nation and are actively promoting the film in the north. Since Mercury, being a silent film, has no language, it appears that the plan is to release it under the category of other language films in Tamil Nadu and thus circumvent the ban.
The Santhosh Narayanan-musical also features Sananth Reddy, Deepak Paramesh, Anish Padman, Remya Nambeesan and Indhuja in important roles.
