Randuper talks about gender politics

Randuper, one of the two films selected to the competition section of 22nd International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK),  deals with the sensitive topic of gender politics and relationships, claims director Prem Sankar.

However, it is not necessarily about the relation between a man and a woman. "It can be between any two human beings, irrespective of their gender, " says the director. Randuper takes a peek into the psyche of relationships and breakups. According to the director, the movie, scripted by him, deals with a very sensitive topic.  "That's why we have experimented with the making," he adds.

While expressing happiness at being selected for IFFK, the director says the honour bestowed on the movie has made him confident. "We have just finished the work on Randuper. This will hit the theatres after IFFK, probably in December itself," he adds.

However, the director refuses to tag it an art house venture. "Other than the fact that there are no mainstream actors in it, Randuper is every bit a commercial film that is easy to grasp. It doesn't have a complex narrative pattern," says Prem Sankar.

The movie has Santhy Balachandran, Suraj Venjaramood, Alancier, Bipin Basil Paulose and Sunil Sukhada in lead roles. Gopi Sunder has composed the tunes.

Besides Randuper, Eden by Sanju Surendran has also made it into the competition section. The 22nd edition of the International Film Festival of Kerala will be held in Thiruvananthapuram from December 8 to 15.
