Two star movies to be launched on Nov 23

As 2017 comes to a close, with little over a month to go, Kannada cinema is seeing a flood of new releases and a film is launched every other week. But what is more exciting is that two films of big heroes will be launched on November 23.

Ambareesh to face the arc lights once more for Ambi Ning Vaiyasayitho.

Work on the film Ambi Ning Vaiyasayitho, which is being made under Sudeep’s banner Kiccha Creations, in association with producer and distributor Jack Manju, is starting this Thursday with a simple puja.

The film’s lead will be played by senior actor Ambareesh, who is excited and charged up to come back after a long break. Inspired by the Tamil hit Power Pandi, the film marks the directorial debut of Gurudatha Ganiga, and features Suhasini as part of the cast.

Kannada version of Oppam remake titled Kavacha

The second project to start rolling from November 23 will be the Shivarajkumar-starrer, Kavacha. This Kannada remake of Malayalam hit Oppam will also be helmed by a newcomer -- GVR Vasu.

The crime thriller, based on a story by Govind Vijayan, about a blind man’s revenge, has Isha Koppikar playing a cop and Vasishta Simha as the antagonist. While the team has retained the child artiste Meenakshi from the Malayalam original, we hear that Amrutha Naik, who played the economics teacher in Raj B Shetty’s Ondu Motteya Kathe, will play Shivarajkumar's sister in this film.

Made under Hayagreeva Kala Chitra, this film is produced by A Sampath Kumar along with MVV Sathyanarayana. The first schedule of the film will be shot in Bengaluru.
