Plagiarism complaint filed against Kaala
K Rajasekaran, who filed the complaint, alleges that he wrote the script for Rajini in the 90s

While the shooting for the Ranjith-Rajinikanth project, Kaala, which commenced in Mumbai on Sunday has been progressing at a brisk pace, the makers are now facing a new hurdle. A complaint has been filed with the Chennai City Commissioner of Police by K Rajasekaran alleging that the title and the core theme of the film were stolen from him. In the complaint, he has alleged that he had written a script for Rajinikanth in 1995-96 titled Karikaalan and that he even met Rajinikanth, who'd assured him that they could discuss about doing the project later.
Rajesekaran says he had registered the title Karikaalan with the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce, and when there was an attempt to make a film with that title starring Vikram, he filed a complaint against this film, which never materialised.
We were unable to reach Pa Ranjith for his comment on this issue.
