Shruti Haasan no longer a part of Sangamithra
In an unexpected turn of events, Sri Thenandal Films announced that the actress will no longer be a part of the project

The team of Sangamithra, including Shruti Haasan, were at Cannes recently, where they unveiled the first look posters of the film, which created quite a buzz on social media. Now, Sri Thenandal Films, which is bankrolling the project, has announced that Shruti is not part of the film any more. Sundar C's ambitious project was supposed to revolve around the titular female protagonist played by the actress. In fact, Shruti even learnt sword fighting for her role in the film. The reason for her exit from the project is unclear.
Official statement from Shruti's spokesperson reads: "Shruti has had to unfortunately take a call to not be a part of Sangamithra. Despite her enthusiasm for the project, she has to give the film a miss since she has not received a proper bound script or information about the filming schedule."
It's not yet known who will replace Shruti Haasan in the film. Currently, the actress is promoting her Hindi film Behen Hogi Teri, besides focusing on her father's Sabaash Naidu.
