Sonu Nigam quits Twitter
The singer deactivated over singer Abhijeet's controversy

Sonu Nigam, who had about 6.5 million followers on Twitter, has quit the micro-blogging site in protest following the suspension of fellow singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya’s profile. The latter’s Twitter account was suspended after he posted a series of offensive tweets against women.
Sonu announced his decision over the course of 24 tweets on Wednesday, saying, “I bid adieu to Twitter and my close to 7 million followers today, leaving most disappointed and angry at me, and some sadists happy”. He also added that the media was divided, and that “we have stopped being humans”. The singer also raised questions about why “everyone is so angry on Twitter” and why “one couldn’t have a sensible discussion” on the site.
This has come only a month after his tweet describing the morning azaan as “forced religiousness” sparked controversies
