A Model Village
Like any other profession, the world of modelling has its dark side
What would be the mood of a village when a reputed modelling agency decides to pitch tent there? That is the world that director Sam Emmanuel has created for his debut feature— Keikraan Meikkiran. “Though the story takes-off in a village, the events shift from place to place. I could inject a lot of fun- filled elements. Like any other profession, the world of modelling has its dark side too. People get cheated but there are also those who have made a career in the long run. The village folk in my film have no clue and are taken for a ride, a jolly one from the audience’s point of view,” says Sam. On picking a new actor, Sabapathi, to play the lead, Sam says he got exactly who he was looking for. “A friend of mine suggested that I look for a tall, dark and handsome young man from Tirunelveli. Sabapathi fit the bill. It took longer to find the right girl to play his love interest. We finally zeroed in on model Lubna Ameer for the role. She and Sabapathi have done really well, and their chemistry is great on screen.” The director reveals something else that he thinks is special about his film, “This is the last fim of yesteryear actress Jothi Lakshmi. She has played the role of a grandmother who is adored by everyone in the village. Sadly, she passed away in the same manner that she does in the film.” With music by Aaditya Mahadevan, Keikraan Meik
