Venkat Prabhu's next to be a serious short film
The filmmaker says that the film will be based on short story by RT Kumar
After the success of Chennai 600028 II: Second Innings, Venkat Prabhu has announced his next, and to everyone's surprise, it's a short film. "Always wanted to try my hands on this one. Now it's happening finally," he said using his official Twitter handle, and posted a photo sharing the cast and crew details of the short film.
"This was something I wanted to do for a long time. Everyone does a short film and then comes to the big screen, but I haven't done a short film before, so I wanted to give it a shot. It was actually Sampath's idea, and he'll be a part of the film," says the director, talking to CE.
"The film will be based on short story by RT Kumar. One of the stories from his collection intrigued me and I wanted to make it as a short film. It will not be in my usual casual style. It'll have a social message befitting the times. I don't want to spoil the surprise by revealing more," he adds. When asked if the film will have his brother Premgi, Venkat Prabhu laughs and says, "No, he'll not be a part it considering that it's a serious subject."
The film is expected to be completed in 3 days. Venkat Prabhu's regular, Yuvan Shankar Raja will be composing the music, while acclaimed subtitlist Rekhs' daughter Shreyan is debuting as the cinematographer. National award winning art director Jayshree is also a part of the project.
Venkat Prabhu, who's currently busy with his second production venture RK Nagar says that the works are on to capture the film at RK Nagar itself. The director also confirmed that his next feature film, under Amma Creations banner, will have an ensemble cast with some big names. He also added that while it'll have his usual comic elements, it'll be in a genre that he hasn't tried before. Works have also commenced for this project, the shooting for which is expected to begin from July.
