Samuthirakani to be Priyadharshan's next villain
The director liked the actor's work in Oppam and wants to cast him in the antagonist role for his untitled Tamil remake of Maheshinte Prathikaaram.
Grapevine has it that Samuthirakani, who was last seen in Thondan, might collaborate with director Priyadarshan on his untitled Tamil remake of the Malayalam film, Maheshinte Prathikaaram. The two have earlier worked together in the 2016 Mohanlal starrer, Oppam. Priyadarshan, who is is not new to remakes, really liked the actor's work in Oppam and is now looking to cast him in the antagonist role for his next. Talks are ongoing between the actor and the director to sort out the dates, as Samuthirakani has a big list of projects in his pipeline.
Udhayanidhi Stalin has been signed to play the lead role, which was originally played by Fahadh Faasil in the National Award winning film. Actress Namitha Pramod, who made her Tamil debut with En Kadhal Pudhithu has apparently been roped in to play the female lead. It is expected that Priyadharshan, whose last Tamil release was the 2008 Kanchivaram, will make appropriate changes to Maheshinte Prathikaaram to suit the sensibilities of the Tamil audience.
