Operation Alamelamma to have a sequel?

The Kannada film has not even released yet but already seems to have a franchise waiting for it

Published: 08th June 2017

Even before Suni's next directorial Operation Alamelamma is out in theatres, there is talk of a sequel. This movie is generating as much interest as his debut Simple Agi Ondhu Love Story. The characters Purmy and Ananya teacher, played by Rishi and Shraddha Srinath, and the medleys composed by Judah Sandy have won over many already. A trailer is to be released today, and it is sure to win them more fans because it will give a glimpse of the movie’s story.

Director Suni says, "Our previous teasers have only introduced the two characters. Now we will throw light on the storyline of this comic thriller." The team is targeting July first week for the movie's release, and are working on its promotion.

Operation Alamelamma will be distributed by Karthik Gowda of Hombale Films. "He watched the film before buying the rights and that has only bolstered our confidence," says Suni.

We hear that Rishi's acting has been applauded, and it may have even won him his second project, which is to be directed by Hemanth M Rao, and jointly produced by Puneeth Rajkumar and Karthik. But the official announcement on this is yet to be made.

While Operation Alamelamma is yet to make it to the theatres, plans are already being made for its sequel. "Rishi and I have discussed it, and we are ready with a one-liner of the script," says Suni. "It will be developed depending on what kind of response Operation Alamelamma’s gets from the audience. In fact, two producers have approached us for it, and we are yet to decide who we will go with."

The film, produced by Suni Cinemas and Star Fab, has music by Judah Sandy and cinematography by Abhishek Kasargod.
