The Mahesh Babu starrer clocked an impressive 6.3 million views on YouTube within 24 hours

The teaser of the Tamil-Telugu bilingual SPYder, starring Mahesh Babu, was released on June 1. The roughly one minute video has created a record for the highest ever views on day one for the teaser of a South Indian movie, having clocked around 6.3 million views on YouTube within 24 hours of its release.

This is first time that Mahesh is playing a spy, but for director AR Murugadoss, this genre is familiar territory. SPYder is said to be the story of an intelligence officer who raises his voice against his agency’s unlawful practices. The teaser indicates that Mahesh Babu’s character might use high-end technology to his advantage.

The film also has adrenaline-pumping action sequences which are being shot in Chennai. Considering that the film will feature extensive portrayal of advanced technology, it will also rely on the use of detailed and extensive visual effects. Baahubali VFX supervisor, RC Kamalakannan, has been signed for the film, and he has already begun his work on the visuals in a studio in Russia.

SPYder, bankrolled by NV Prasad and Tagore Madhu, also stars Bharath, Rakul Preet and SJ Suryah in the lead roles. The film, which marks Mahesh Babu’s Tamil debut, is tentatively set to release on September 30.
