Kadam Kadha is the tale of two paupers

Ad man-turned-director Senthil Rajan’s debut Kadam Kadha is a humourous take on two broke men, played by Vinay Fort and Joju George. But, the  director says it is every bit a realistic movie. “The movie is about two men who are neck-deep in debt. It is their bid to survive which forms the crux of the movie. But, this is not a slapstick comedy, rather a situational one,” says the director.

Vinay plays Giri and Joju plays Cleetus. Both are burdened by their share of financial issues when their jobs don’t go well. When circumstance brings them together, they decide to join hands to overcome the quagmire they have landed in.

Senthil says he was impressed by the unique chemistry both the actors shared on screen. “Joju and Vinay are physically very different, so are their acting styles. Joju is tall and well-built, while Vinay is a small guy. They beautifully represent two extremes of life. The same goes for their acting styles. While Joju is a natural actor, Vinay is a stylised actor. They balance each other so well,” says the director.

Srinda plays Vinay’s wife. “In fact, every character, including  Srinda and Renji Panicker are so relatable. Their onscreen mannerisms and acts are very realistic. That is why I am hesitant to call this movie a comedy entertainer. For me, this is as real as it can get,” says Senthil.

Aanandam fame Roshan Mathew and Saiju Kurup play prominent characters. Debutant Veena has been cast opposite Roshan. Renji plays a businessman who comes to the rescue of the duo. Kadam Kadha set in Kochi, is produced by Sadhique Ali.
