Sharan’s next has technicians turn producers

Apart from Atlanta Nagendra and the actor, who have already produced films, the other five are first-time investors; project to go on floors from July 17 under Ladoo Cinema House
Sharan’s next has technicians turn producers

Whenever Tarun Sudhir is in the picture, he tries to bring something interesting to the table. The director’s first film Chowka had in its team 25 technicians. Tarun’s next, an Anil Kumar directorial, will see him as one of seven producers.

The yet-to-be titled film, starring Sharan, is to be made under the lead actor’s home production Laddoo Cinemas. The seven producers on board are Atlanta Nagendra, Sharan, director Tarun Sudhir, music director Arjun Janya, cinematographer Sudhakar S Raj, editor KM Prakash and art director Mohan B Kere. While the first two -- Nagendra and Sharan -- have produced films earlier like Jog Falls and Rambo, respectively, this will be the first production venture for the other five.

Apparently, this team got together over a casual discussion, when the technicians were given a reading of a story. Tarun explains, “This was a story told to Sharan almost two years ago and from that moment he has been keen to produce the project under his banner Ladoo Cinema House.” Though all of them got busy with other commitments, the filmmaker says they always wanted this film to be released by Sharan's production house. “This was an old commitment. After Rambo, Sharan has not done any other film under Ladoo Cinemas. This project landed in front of a couple of producers, but it was getting delayed. So we were having a general discussion, and during the reading of the story, one of the technicians expressed his interest in investing in the film. Within two hours, all of us seconded the thought and later Atlanta Nagendra too confirmed, over a phone call,” he adds.

The director-producer says they decided to produce this movie because of a longstanding friendship and the subject. “Firstly, this film, which is an edge-of-the-seat thriller comedy, will fit Sharan perfectly,” he says. “Importantly, the actor and the team of technicians have travelled together for the last five years. The trust we have in each other has brought us this far. The moment the idea was brought to the table, everyone was excited to be part of it as producers. We are confident about the story and the overall project. With seven of us on board, we hope to do wonders.”

The team is now ready with the film’s script and the casting will soon start from July 17. In the meantime, the filmmakers are scouting for a suitable heroine, who will be joining the sets later.
