Actor turned producer Afri Lamba, who has featured in Bollywood films like F.U.G.L.Y, Singh is Bling, and his latest international release The Gift, has made yet another hard impacting film The Idiot which essays him as the lead. Produced under his production house, Bombay Berlin Pictures, The Idiot is a political satire that exposes the bigotry of a society fed on religious stereotypes and paranoia. It deals with the important issue of Islamaphobia and uses dark humor as a tool to convey the ridiculousness of our prejudices which are inspired by true events.

The Idiot has been selected to feature in the 40th Asian American International Film Festival of New York and will have its world premiere on the 27th of July. It is the oldest and most reputed Asian Film Festival in America and the film is in its ‘Official Selection’. The Idiot is directed by Ruchi Joshi and Sriram Ganapathy.
