Gayathrie on board for Aneethi Kathaigal

Thiagarajan Kumararaja’s second directorial venture after the critically-acclaimed Aaranya Kaandam, Aneethi Kathaigal was announced in October last year. The film has Vijay Sethupathi, Samantha, and Fahadh Faasil in important roles. The latest information is that Gayathrie Shankar is also on board. 

She tells us, "I am paired opposite Vijay Sethupathi in the film and I play an urban-based lower middle-class girl. I bagged the offer during the Puriyaadha Pudhir promotions. I couldn't say 'no' when Kumararaja approached me for the role. I never had auditions though."

Since the film is an anthology, she has no qualms about being one of many heroines. "Samantha isn't there in my story. I'll be shooting from September 10 onwards," she adds. 

Sources close to Vijay Sethupathi say he will play a transgender character in this film. However, official confirmation is yet to come.
