Lyricist-actor-singer Arunraja Kamaraj of Kabali fame has announced his debut film as a director, to be based on women's cricket.
In a statement to the press, he says, "Direction has always been on mind. I have written many short films and even worked as an assistant director in Vettai Mannan (which never got released)."
He also says he wrote this script much before the recently concluded women's cricket world cup. "My film revolves around a woman cricketer who fearlessly wants to pursue her dream. I've taken inspiration from several real-life incidents to pen this script," he adds.
Since the story requires actors who can play cricket, he will be conducting auditions to finalise the lead and supporting artistes. Though a sports drama, we hear the story also explores the relationship between a father and his daughter.
