Injury didn’t keep Nirup off shoot

Nirup Bhandari  has injured his right hand, but that has not deterred him from participating in the ongoing shoot of his upcoming film, Rajaratha directed by his brother, Anup Bhandari. Apparently, the actor didn’t want his months of practice for the stunt sequence go to waste because of an injury.

Having shot four days in Ooty, the team is now camped out at Mysuru where the last leg of shooting is going on. The actor, who doesn’t want to disturb the schedule, will be completing the shoot on pain killers. Anup Bhandari told CE that Nirup fractured his right hand when he slipped and flew off only to land on a stone slab during a stunt sequence. “Luckily he was wearing a backpack or he would have broken his back ribs and injured his head,” says Anup, who recalled a similar earlier accident on the sets of his first film Rangitaranga. “Both times, he escaped,” the director explains.

Nirup has been advised to get two months of rest, but the actor, being a professional that he is, continued his shoot with straps on. “This particular schedule had Nirup doing two major stunt scenes, for which he had practised for a couple of months. So he did not want to back out on it. In spite of the injury, he made sure he completed the second shot before heading to the hospital. His confidence gave us courage to continue the shoot,” Anup says.  The film's talkie portions will be completed by August 24, after which the crew will be left with one more song.

Rajaratha, featuring Avantika Shetty as the female lead, has music by B Ajaneesh Loknath and cinematography by William David.
