Dhruva Sarja, who had hattrick box office hits with films like Addhuri, Bahaddhur and Bharjari, admits that shooting for Pogaru, his fourth film still feels like his debut. “I feel exactly what I went through while working on my first film.” 

The Nanda Kishore directorial, produced by BK Gangadhar, features him playing a character with layers and he calls his role an anti-hero. "It's a notorious character and I was afraid about playing the character even till the recent schedule. In fact, I used to ask Nanda Kishore whether such a person exists on this earth.”

He says the audience will see a never-before-seen version of him in the film. “Pogaru is a family action entertainer, and the role I play is very fresh to me. It is youthful and challenging,” says Dhruva, without revealing much about his role.

The actor, along with the team, will be heading to Hyderabad on June 30, and he will resume the shoot there from July 3. The schedule will be shot continuously in 50 days, and the team has planned to shuttle between Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam and Bengaluru. 

The makers have taken 15 days to construct with a huge set in Ramoji film city in Hyderabad and they've planned to shoot major sequences of the film over there. The actor reveals that the shooting for the second half of the film will be completed in this schedule. “Apart from that, we will have four songs remaining,” he says.
 
Dhruva has for long been sporting a beard and long hair for Pogaru. He shed 30kg to get into the schoolboy’s role, and later took the same amount of time to regain the weight. 

The commercial entertainer features Rashmika Mandanna as the female lead and Dhananjay as the antagonist. The cast also includes actors like Ravi Shankar, Sadhu Kokila, Chikkanna and Kuri Pratap. The film has music by V Harikrishna.
