Rashmika Mandanna turns investigative officer in Vrithra

Not long ago, Rashmika Mandanna had created a buzz with her next Kannada project with debutant director, R Gautham Iyer. She also went on record to say how excited she was to play an investigative officer and chess player. The latest news about the film is that the makers have revealed the title of the project with the official poster. The film is titled Vrithra.

Director Gautham says, “It is a fictional word created for the film. The title has a lot to do with the film, but expanding the word might reveal the plot. You will have a clear picture as to how the title is related to the story once you watch the film.”

The film is scheduled to go on floors from the first week of August. The first-time director who is glad to have Rashmika Mandanna on board, goes on to say how he conceptualised the script. “Whenever I had an idea, I used to sit down and write a story. Meanwhile, I happened to come across a news article, which helped me get the right point for the screenplay of my film. It is an integral element of my story. My co-writer and I were able to quickly draft the story, and that’s how Vrithra's story came about,” he says.

On roping in Rashmika, he tells us that it happened when he was working in Rakshit Shetty’s production house--Paramvah Studios--and was an associate in Kiranraj’s debut project 777 Charlie. “The subject I was working on is very timely, and I felt that it should be told now. I actually had a character like Rashmika in mind, someone who would be able to portray a different look. Since she has never played a role like this, I decided to rope her in. While there is an innocence in her face, she also comes across as a strong performer. Since I had seen her off-screen, I knew her mannerisms would fit the kind of character we had created also,” he says.

The makers are now in the process of finalising the rest of the cast and crew.
