Yash Chopra’s sets are always a picnic

Amitabh Bachchan, reminisced on his blog about the time he worked in Yash Chopra’s Kaala Patthar, saying, “Working with Yash-ji was always a picnic. His sets were informal, relaxed, and filed with humour and delicious food. He encouraged the families of artists to accompany them to the shoot destination. Whether it was Pune or Kashmir, Amsterdam or Delhi, it was always the same.”

He recounted how evenings were spent at a common place where everyone chatted, played games and enjoyed each others’ company. “Antakshari was the favourite, along with dumb charades. What wonderful moments we shared,” added the actor, who is currently in Malta to shoot Thugs of Hindostan. Amitabh singled out the time they shot in Kashmir for Chopra’s romantic drama Silsila, and called them a delight.

“After pack up, we would all go to the Dal Lake, where several ‘dongas’ - boat platforms - would be tied together to make one floating large boat and all of us would spend the evening there eating and singing. We’d also have music by local folk musicians.”

On a rather nostalgic note, the actor, who was last seen in the commercially unsuccessful Sarkar 3, concluded by adding, “Time waits for no one, and neither must we.”
