Diganth’s next with debutant director

After Chowka’s success, the actor is taking much care with his new projects

The success of Chowka, and appreciation that poured in for Diganth’s performance in it, have made the actor be more careful while choosing his next project. After much thought, Diganth has decided to work with a new director J Manjunath, who has also written the script of this film. Work on this yet-to-be-titled film will start on September 15. Diganth is part of a whole new team, including the producer Rajesh Kumar Gulecha.

Diganth says, “Our first association with the director starts with the reading of the script. Among the many other stories, I had been listening to, I found Manjuanth's very good. It has entertainment value and drama." The actor says he believes that he can easily fit into the character, and adds, "I have seen his other works, with various filmmakers, and felt that he would do justice to this movie as a director.”

There are times when an actor gears up for a shoot, only to know that the film has been shelved after a few days. Diganth had one such experience, too, recently with Utsav, a project that was halted after just one day of shooting.

“Actors prepare for every film. When the film does not take off, all the work seems wasted,” he says, adding, “It is quite common these days with many films stopped midway, and as an actor, we should be prepared.”

Diganth says that he has another film in the pipeline, work on which will start only in December. Discussions with Ghousepeer are also on and, in all likelihood, the actor will be working with him a second time after Sharp Shooter. But this project has not been confirmed. “It’s better that I talk about it once I have the dates set aside and have signed on the dotted line,” he says.
