Blue Mountains: Uphill task watching it
Cast : Ranvir Shorey, Gracy Singh, Rajpal Yadav
Director : Suman Ganguli
Blue Mountains, directed by Suman Ganguli, stars Ranvir Shorey and Gracy Singh. There is another forgotten face in Mahesh Thakur. Yes, there are several aspects to Blue Mountains that make you wonder where did this film spring from.
It’s a confusing one. Not to mention a terrible one. It has rank bad acting saved only by couple of attempts from Shorey at dry humour. I wonder who decided to cast Shorey as a straitjacket father. It wants to train its eye on the ridiculous reality shows of today and expose their reality. But it cannot decide between satire, serious introspection and just an overtly sentimental tale. The first half is a bad attempt at recreating such a reality show. At least those shows entertain and can hardly be termed as boring. You have to keep reminding yourself that this is not parody. Blue Mountains then morphs into a misguided attempt to talk about depression. With some life lessons from children’s books on the side. The resulting patchwork is a mess. An excruciating film with reaction shot after reaction shot. If only they had been nice enough to film my reaction too. I wouldn’t have to go through the process of putting my thoughts down.
