Here, we try to make sense of the recently-released teaser, which has Suriya in terrific form.

Is it ever easy going against the system? It never was, and unfortunately, it never will be.

But just like how a plant finds its root even in the crevice of a rock, some people do manage the impossibl

Captain GR Gopinath was one such person, and Soorarai Pottru sets out to tell the tale of this enterprising entrepreneur, who revolutionised the Indian airspace.

The teaser of Soorarai Pottru begins with the sound of a moving train. It is 1984. You get the first glimpse of Suriya, who reminds us of his VA days, finding himself in the crowded train's floor.

His first dialogue rings so true, '6000 vechukuttu aeroplane company aarambikren sonnapo, indha ulagame.... evan da idhu loosu ... nu dhaan paathuchu.' Aren't most dreamers branded eccentric at first?

Back to Suriya and his Vaaranam Aayiram days when we see him as Pilot Officer Nedumaaran Rajangam. In the span of a few seconds, we see the unbridled anger and the steely resolve of Maara.

What works most for this teaser is GV Prakash's Maara theme, sung by Arivu and Suriya, and its lyrics that reflect the journey of this sparrow that dreams to soar like an eagle.

It perfectly sets the tone for a fast-paced teaser that doesn't shy away from leaving all its cards out in the open.

We see Suriya through his formative years, his pilot days, his entrepreneurial days, his success, his failure... everything.

For a story like this, it is not the 'what' that matters but 'how'... And the 77-second teaser piques our interest, and how!

The visuals focus a lot on the various automobiles in Maara's life. If the first shot had a train, we obviously see a lot of different airplanes, right from the commercial flights to fighter jets.

We also see Suriya riding a Bullet through crowded streets.

There are other characters like Aparna Balamurali who make a fleeting appearance in this teaser.

But these 77 seconds, and surely, the rest of the film, is centred around one person... Nedumaaran Rajangam, and from what we saw, Suriya plays him with an inimitable majestic intensity.

The Soorarai Pottru teaser makes one question the reasoning behind not making a full-blown biopic instead of just working around certain incidents from the life of Gopinath.

Even the name of the flight company is Deccan Air as opposed to the original Air Deccan. It's reminiscent of the recent web series, Queen, which had a central character named GMR.

What began with the blaring of a train horn ends with the Deccan Air Flight No 582 taking off. And the Soorarai Pottru teaser sets it up beautifully for the 'Untold' journey in between.

Well...Bring it on Maara! We are waiting.
