She was born on 6th December 1994 to D. Mani, a civil engineer and social worker, and Shyamala, a homemaker, in Chetpet, Chennai.
Meera had always been a studious student. She had scored 90% in 10th standard and 92% in 12th standard, passing out of Chennai's Maharishi Vidya Mandir,
Meera, then, went to Ethiraj College to pursue a degree in Microbiology. She, apparently, had a liking for biology right from her school days.
Meera further pursued a Masters in Biotechnology from SRM, Andhra Pradesh, where she topped the class.
Meera briefly worked as a research scholar at Dr Cherian's Heart Foundation, before making her foray into modelling.
During her stint at Cherian's Foundation, she had gone to watch a movie with her friend, when she bumped into choreographer Ganesh Guru, who convinced her to take up her first modelling assignment.
After a few auditions, she took part in her first fashion show for Co-Optex, a wedding saree brand, which made her popular in the modelling circuit.
Meera, then, moved on to work with brands such as Kingfisher and competed in the Miss Face of Chennai beauty pageant. She has, incidentally, walked the ramp for Kingfisher 7 times.
Meera took part in the Miss Madras 2015 pageant, finishing as a runner-up behind Deepika Murali. This got her opportunities to model for many leading brands.
By 2015, Meera became a regular participator on the Chennai modelling and social scene, notably featuring on the Cinema Spice Chennai Fashion Calendar.
Meera took part in Star Vijay's Jodi Number One show in early 2015, as a part of its eight season. She was released from the show, after the judges were unhappy with her attitude.
In 2016, Meera was crowned Miss South India 2016 at the zonal rounds of the beauty pageant . She competed with eighteen candidates from five southern states to win the title.
Following her victory, Meera worked on a deal with sponsors Natural to mentor and handle the audition process for the competition for girls from Tamil Nadu.
In 2017, she helped set up the fourth Miss Tamil Nadu beauty pageant, under the new designated role as Regional Director of Tamil Nadu Miss South India.
Meanwhile, Meera garnered criticism from audiences for posting this picture on Instagram to mark Tamil New Year in 2018
Meera, however, fell out with the organisers of the Miss Tamil Nadu beauty pageant, and chose to create her own competition titled Miss Tamil Nadu Diva for 2019.
Ajith Ravi, one of the organisers, subsequently denied her allegations and labelled that Meera had engaged in fraudulent behaviour, taken money from other designers and cheated potential contestants.
Following fraud claims by many contestants and a court suit, the organisers of Miss South India decided to revoke her 2016 title. The title was subsequently given to Sanam Shetty.
Meera's first acting assignment was in Gautham Menon's Yennai Arindhaal (2015) as a friend of the character played by Trisha.
Meera shot for the film in late 2014, appearing in scenes alongside Trisha and Ajith Kumar, but her character eventually did not make the theatrical cut.
In 2016, she shot for a small role in Elan's fantasy film, Graghanam, but the film never got a release.
Meera finally got a break in the 2017 film, 8 Thottakkal, which had her playing a small, but significant supporting role.
Meera's biggest role, till date, was in Vignesh Shivan's heist comedy, Thaanaa Serndha Koottam (2018), where she portrayed the wife of Kalaiyarasan's character
Meera has revealed that she had auditioned to play Rajinikanth's wife character in the flashback of Karthik Subbaraj's Petta, & was shortlisted for the final round. The role ultimately went to Trisha.
She also claimed that she was meant to feature alongside Vikram in Kamal Haasan's production Kadaram Kondan, but her role apparently didn't make it to the final draft.
Meera's last release was the stoner thriller, Bodhai Yeri Budhi Maari, where she played the hero's friend's ex.
Meera loves dancing, and is professionally trained in Afro-Latin dance, and salsa.
Meera's father, incidentally, had won the title of Mr Tamil Nadu
Meera is a self-proclaimed fan of Superstar Rajinikanth. She also idolizes Angelina Jolie.
