Christopher Nolan's critically acclaimed film Oppenheimer starring Cillian Murphy in the lead role is gearing up for a release on the OTT platform Jio Cinema on March 21. The film was listed under the platform's 'Coming Soon' section.

The biographical film received 13 nominations for the 96th Academy Awards, making it the most nominated film this year. It bagged seven awards at the recent BAFTA Film Awards that took place at London and earned awards in eight categories at the Critics Choice Awards 2024. During the Golden Globes, Oppenheimer won five of its eight nominations.

Oppenheimer is based on the life of Robert Oppenheimer, the American theoretical physicist who is called the 'father of the atomic bomb' and his role in the Manhattan Project during World War II. Oppenheimer has been credited as the director of the Los Alamos Laboratory, a place known for assembling bombs.

Cillian Murphy stars as the titular character, marking his debut as a lead in Nolan's films. He has earlier appeared in the director's Inception, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and Dunkirk, to name a few. Apart from Cilian, Oppenheimer also stars Florence Pugh, Robert Downey Jr, Gary Oldman, Rami Malek, and Kenneth Branagh, among others.

Oppenheimer, which was released in July last year alongside Greta Gerwig's Barbie, rose to huge critical and commercial acclaim, becoming the highest-grossing biopic ever with more than $950 million worldwide gross.
