Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam trailer piques curiosity

The trailer of Mammootty-Lijo Jose Pellissery's film Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam got released on Sunday.  The 1.38-minute-long trailer is intriguing despite not going much into the plot details. Scripted by Hareesh, the film revolves around James (Mammootty), who while travelling back from Vellankanni with his family encounters a strange phenomenon, which forces them to be stranded in a village in Tamil Nadu.

The official synopsis reads, "A group of Malayali travellers was returning to Kerala by bus after their visit to Velankanni. They all doze off in a lazy nap after lunch. Like a traveler who forgot his destination, James stops the bus in a village in Tamil Nadu. He starts to speak in Tamil like a native of the place, Sundaram, and behaves like him, confusing all who came with him and the villagers alike. He walks amidst faith, delusion, dream, and trance, followed by others."

Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam had its world premiere at the recently concluded IFFK. The film was the prized property at this year's festival as it got a unanimously positive response from the viewers. It also won the  'audience prize' Rajata Chakoram.

The makers are expected to announce the theatrical release date soon.
