Confirmed: Prithviraj not to direct Suriya in Biscuit Rajan biopic

The project was first announced in 2021 with Prithviraj as the director and lead actor

In November 2021, it was announced that Prithviraj would direct and star in a web series based on the life of India's 'Biscuit King' Rajan Pillai. The project is backed by Saregama's Yoodlee Films. Recently, there were speculations on social media about Prithviraj opting out of the project as the lead actor. It was widely reported that he would instead be directing the series with Tamil actor Suriya as the lead. When we reached out to Prithviraj's PR team, they denied any such developments. According to them, Prithviraj currently has only two directorials lined up—the Lucifer sequel, Empuraan, and the pan-Indian film, Tyson.

Prithviraj is currently shooting for the Hindi film Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. While Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff play the leads, Prithviraj essays the antagonist's role in it. After its completion, the actor will wrap up his remaining portions for Vilayath Buddha. He is then expected to begin shooting for the ambitious period film, Kaaliyan. It has also been confirmed that Empuraan will go on floors in August.

With such a packed schedule ahead of him, it is unclear when Prithviraj will start working on the Rajan Pillai biopic. Rajan Pillai was an influential Malayali businessman and a stakeholder in Britannia Industries. He was convicted by Singapore's Commercial Affairs Department of 22 counts of fraud and breach of trust. He died in 1995 while in custody in Tihar Jail.
