As part of the shoot of his upcoming film Kannur Squad, Mammootty revisited Maharajas College in Kochi, where he completed his degree. The actor took to social media to share a video of his revisit to the college library. In the 1-minute-long video, Mammootty talks about how the place introduced a young Mohammed Kutty to the world of stories even before he became an actor. It also features shots of him going through an old college magazine, which has his black and white photo. The video ends with Mammootty taking selfies with an excited bunch of college students.

Actors Shabareesh Varma, Rony David, Azeez Nedumangad and Ramesh Pisharody are also seen in the video along with Mammootty. Recently, the veteran actor also shared a video of his visit to the Ernakulam Law College, from where he graduated as an advocate.

Kannur Squad marks the directorial debut of cinematographer Roby Varghese Raj. Produced by the actor's own banner Mammootty Kampany, the film is billed as a cop-thriller. Muhammed Shafi has written the story. He has also penned the screenplay along with actor Rony David Raj, who is also director Roby's brother.
