We had earlier reported about Priyadarshan teaming up with Shane Nigam for his next. The film got launched on Thursday with a customary pooja ceremony. The film, reportedly titled Corona Papers, is said to be the remake of the Tamil film 8 Thottakal. Priyadarshan is adapting the script based on the original's director Sri Ganesh's story.

Shane Nigam will be reprising the cop's role played by Vertri in 8 Thottakal. The Malayalam version has Gayathrie Shankar, who recently made her Malayalam debut with Nna Thaan Case Kodu, as the female lead. Shine Tom Chacko and Siddique will be seen in other prominent roles. Sandhya Shetty, Jais Jose, PP Kunhikrishnan, Maniyanpilla Raju, Sreedhanya, Vijilesh, Menaka Suresh Kumar, Biju Pappan, and Srikant Murali also star in it.

Divakar Mani, who has worked in Telugu films like Virata Parvam, Ninnila Ninnila, and Ranarangam, is the cinematographer. Edits will be handled by Ayyappan, a regular in Priyadarshan films. The veteran filmmaker's banner Four Frames is backing it.

Priyadarshan, whose last release was Marakkar Arabikadalinte Simham, was supposed to reunite with Mohanlal for a boxing-based film. But the film got shelved due to some unknown reasons. The two recently worked together in Olavum Theeravum, which is part of the upcoming Netflix anthology based on MT Vasudevan Nair's stories. Priyadarshan also has a Tamil film titled Appatha with Urvashi coming up.
