Asif Ali to star in Jagan Shaji Kailas' directorial debut

Ace filmmaker Shaji Kailas' son Jagan is all set to make his directorial debut. Asif Ali will play the lead role in the film, which is backed by Shaji Kailas Productions. Said to be a mass entertainer, Asif will be undergoing a major physical transformation for the film. However, it is not yet known when the makers are planning to begin production.

Celebrated novelist Jeyamohan is scripting this yet-to-be-titled film. He has penned several popular Tamil films like Papanasam, 2.0, Sarkar, Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu and the recent-blockbuster Ponniyin Selvan. He is also scripting the upcoming Kamal Haasan-film Indian 2. In Malayalam, he has written films like Ozhimuri, Kaanchi, 1 By Two and Naku Penda Naku Taka.

Asif Ali's last release Kooman has emerged as a decent hit at the box office. The actor has several other projects in the pipeline including Kaapa, Maheshum Maruthiyum, Kasargold, A Ranjith Cinema, Kishkindha Kandam, and Adavu.
