Published: 23rd November 2022

After multiple delays in release, it has finally been announced that Alphonse Puthren's highly-anticipated film Gold will be hitting screens on December 1. The film, starring Prithviraj Sukumaran and Nayanthara as the leads, was initally slated for Onam release in September, but got postponed at the last moment, much to the disappointment of the fans. The makers, Alphonse in particular, was subject to a lot of criticism and trolls on social media because of the repeated postponing.

Gold marks Alphonse's return to direction after seven long years. The fact that his last film Premam was a sensational blockbuster across the South, and he is bringing together a huge star cast for Gold has naturally raised the expectations on the film. Besides scripting and directing, Alphonse has also handled the film's editing, stunts, VFX, and animation.

Gold cast includes Roshan Mathew, Ajmal Ameer, Lalu Alex, Chemban Vinod Jose, Vinay Forrt, Jagadish, Shine Tom Chacko, Prem Kumar, Baburaj, Mallika Sukumaran, Shammi Thilakan, Deepti Sathi, and Shanti Krishna among others. The makers have also hinted that many other popular actors will be appearing in cameo roles in the film.

Prithviraj Productions and Magic Frames are jointly backing Gold.
