Alphonse Puthren reacts to criticisms received for Gold

Director Alphonse Puthren's latest film Gold is currently running in theatres. The film mark's his comeback to direction after seven years. Starring Prithviraj in the lead role, the film opened to mixed reviews.

Opening up for the first time since the release of Gold, Alphonse Puthren, in a Facebook post addressed about the negative reviews received for the film. The filmmaker said how we welcomes negative reviews that did not indulge in either slander or written with contempt. Alphonse also gave an example of giving a constructive criticism by saying, “When a tea is not good, it can said if the water or milk quantities are more or less, if the sugar is enough or not. This means, it will be helpful for the person who is making tea the next time. But instead, if you are saying it’s a dirty tea or not good for your mouth, there is no use in them.”

The filmmaker also explained that he did not make Neram 2 or Premam 2. “No one worked in this film, including me, to hurt you or waste your time. Don’t doubt my team or me again. Don’t say Gold could have been made a particular way, because this is the first time I am also shooting Gold. You have the right to say only when you have had the habit of making Gold earlier,” the director concluded.

Alphone has written the script of Gold as well, besides handling the film’s editing, stunts, VFX, and animation. The film is backed by Prithviraj Productions and Listin Stephen's Magic Frame. It stars Nayanthara, Roshan Mathew, Ajmal Ameer, Lalu Alex, Chemban Vinod Jose, among others.
