Published: 07th September 2021

On the occasion of Mammootty's 70th birthday, a host of Malayalam celebrities have expressed their heartfelt wishes and love to the megastar who continue to grow and inspire generations of moviegoers.
Mohanlal called Mammootty a "brother figure" who stood with him as a pillar through his highs and lows. "I'm blessed to be living with a prodigy like him and extremely happy to have my name read alongside his. In four decades, we worked together on 53 films, produced five films together - I see all this as a great miracle. I don't believe a collaboration such as this has happened in any other language. Here's hoping we get to work together again in the future."
Calling Mammootty the "pride of Kerala", Rahman, who made his acting debut with him in Koodevide, shared, "My first shot was with you, my first dialogue was to you, and from then on, most of my best movies and hits was along with you. I am truly fortunate. It's been a long, joyful, wonderful, memorable 38 years knowing. Literally, I grew up with you. That's why no matter what, no one can replace you as my brother."
Kunchacko Boban called Mammootty his "mentor, guiding light, teacher, big brother and a genuine well-wisher" for him and his family, and added that he is "always a warm presence" during his happiest moments and a "comforting soul" during his trying times. The Nayattu actor went on to call him an "undying inspiration and role model for all who wish to enter the movie industry."
Soubin Shahir said, "Growing up, Mammootty has always been an admirable fascination. My childhood was a lot about listening to your stories of greatness and watching your heroism on screen. Never once in my wildest dreams did I ever think that I would ever get a chance to meet you. But then it happened during my 1st movie as an assistant, and it goes beyond words to express the excitement and admiration I felt at that moment. A decade and a half later - I still look at you with the same starstruck eyes and wonder. Mammookka, it has been an honour knowing you. Today I feel truly blessed to have had the chance to act alongside you. What a pleasure & good fortune it has been just to hear you share your wisdom & in-depth knowledge on anything & everything under the sun. I have learned so much from you. Thank you for the kind of love & guidance that only you have been to me. Thank you for being an inspiration, not just to me but to an entire generation."
Director Rosshan Andrrews sees Mammootty as "more than an individual" and a "consummate actor", a "genuine human being" and the "actor who does not hide behind masks in real life".
