The teaser and songs of Gurutvaakarshane have already been released and the film has now entered the censor stage as the makers gear up for its theatrical release. Backed by Mother Promise Talkies, Gurutvaakarshane marks the directorial debut of Mahender C Gundegala, who has written the story, screenplay and dialogues, while also producing the film. Dilip Siddappaji Kollegala has joined the project as co producer. Though Mahender has previously directed short films, this is his first feature length venture.

The title Gurutvaakarshane, which translates to “gravitation”, may suggest a science based film, but Mahender clarifies that the story takes a different route.

“People naturally assume it is a scientific film when they hear the title. But this is not science fiction. The film explores what happens when the idea of ‘gravitation’ is applied to life and relationships,” says the filmmaker.

Set in Kollegala and Chamarajanagar, the film has been shot entirely in the same regions, giving it a rooted local flavour. Mahender reveals that the journey behind the film is deeply personal.

“My mother always wanted me to become a director. Before she passed away, she expressed that wish, and I wanted to fulfil her dream. For nearly one and a half years, I worked during the day and spent my nights developing this story,” he shares.

Bringing together talent from Kollegala and Mysuru, the filmmaker says the project is close to his heart. The film’s teaser and two songs, composed by Neetu Ninad and released through A2 Music.

The film stars Jayanth Dore in the lead, with Sukruti as the female protagonist. The supporting cast includes Prabhakar, Divya Kumar Sattegala, Mandya Siddu, Vijay Kiran, Master Shaurya and Dr Bhanupakash AS.

Cinematography for Gurutvaakarshane is handled by Pavithran and Vignesh Vikki, while Rakshith Raj serves as editor. With censor formalities underway and growing attention around its music and teaser, the makers are hopeful of bringing Gurutvaakarshane to audiences soon.
