Director Praveen Krupakar's Taledanda was announced as the Best Film on Environment Conservation/ Preservation. The film was a posthumous release for late actor Sanchari Vijay and it traces the life of a tribal man suffering from mental health issues who is extremely fond of trees. 

Talking about the National recognition, an elated Praveen says, "I would have been happy had we received an award for Best Kannada film. But I can be dejected about as our film has got a nation-wide recognition." However, he wishes that Sanchari Vijay got an award for his performance, "He was extremely good in the film. I don't know why he wasn't selected for the award.” 

Taledanda had story, screenplay and dialogues by Praveen Krupakar, apart from him directing it. The film was also sent to over 16 international film festivals.
