Perfect Days is Japan's selection to represent at Oscars 2024

Japan has selected Perfect Days as its Oscars 2024 entry under the category Best International Feature Film.
Directed by German filmmaker Wim Wenders, the film made its debut at the Cannes Film Festival this year. It is to be noted that it is the first time Japan is picking a film made by non-Japanese filmmaker for an Oscars.
The film follows Hirayama, a content toilet cleaner in Tokyo, who enjoys a simple life and liking for music and books. However, a series of events unfolds a different part of his life and past. The film stars Koji Yakusho, Arisa Nakano, Tokio Emoto, Yumi Aso, Sayuri Ishikawa, Tomokazu Miura, Aoi Yamada, Min Tanaka, among others.
Backed by Koji Yanai, Wim Wenders, Takuma Takasaki, Perfect Days will be opening the upcoming Tokyo Film Festival. Takuma Takasaki also serves as the co-writer of the film.
