PM Modi meets the makers of The Elephant Whisperers

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met and congratulated Kartiki Gonsalves and Guneet Monga, the director and producer of The Elephant Whisperers, which won Best Documentary Short at the Oscars ceremony held recently. 

Sharing the news on Twitter, PM Modi wrote, "The cinematic brilliance and success of ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ has drawn global attention as well as acclaim. Today, I had the opportunity to meet the brilliant team associated with it. They have made India very proud."

The Elephant Whisperers is produced by Guneet Monga under Sikhya Entertainment. Set in the Theppaku Elephant Camp, it follows the lives of the two caretakers who take two calves Raghu and Ammukutty under their wings. Beyond talking about this, the documentary also throws light on the indigenous tribe and their lifestyle, destigmatising late and widow remarriage and the human-animal relationship.
