After a successful home release in Japan, Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero is now gearing up for an Indian release, including the major metro cities. Toei animation, the production studio, has announced that the film is all set to release in India on August 26. The Dragon Ball anime series has one of the most dedicated fan followings among the Indian anime fandom. It was one of the earliest anime franchises to popularise the Japanese animation media in India.

The 21st feature film in the Dragon Ball series has garnered tons of hype as it is written by the original creator Akira Toriyama himself. Dragon Ball Super: Superhero is the fourth film in the series where Akirama Toriyama is directly involved in the production. The film initially opened in Japan on July 11 to rave reviews. It stayed on top of the box office for a week until it was dethroned by Top Gun: Maverick.

Dragon Ball started out as a Manga (Japanese comics) before being adapted into a series in 1986. The groundbreaking visuals, memorable characters, and unique storytelling were completely new to the non-Japanese audience. It then went on to become a worldwide phenomenon. The popularity of the series reached its fever pitch in the 90s, becoming the gateway for many anime fans in India. Even though it is only getting a limited release, a theatrical run for an anime movie is rare in India and the fans are excited to see their favourite anime on the big screen.
